Postgame Notes - Virginia at Maryland

Home Cooking: The Terps improved to 12-1 at home on the season, including a 5-0 mark in ACC games. Maryland has won its last four league home games by an average of 21.0 points. Maryland, which moved into a tie for third in the league at 7-3, has won six in a row at home.

Hot Start: Greivis Vasquez scored 12 of the team's first 20 points, 18 of the first 31 points and ended the opening 20 minutes with 25 points. In all Vasquez accounted for 36 of the team's 51 points, having dished out five assists which led to another 11 points.

Hot Shooting: The Terps connected on 56.3 percent of their field-goal attempts (36 of 64) vs. Virginia, the second-best mark of the season. Maryland nailed 56.9 percent of its attempts (33 of 58) vs. Winston-Salem State (12/222/09).

30-Point Outings: Greivis Vasquez recorded the fourth 30-point game of his career (30 at Wake Forest, 1/12/10; 35 vs. UNC, 2/12/09; 33 at NC State, 3/1/09), a mark which ranks sixth on the Maryland career chart. Walt Williams is Maryland's all-time leader with 15 30-point games.

Familiar Faces: Greivis Vasquez, Eric Hayes, Sean Mosley, Jordan Williams and Landon Milbourne were in the starting lineup for the 13th consecutive contest.

Doubling Up: Jordan Williams (11 points, 11 rebounds) recorded his fourth double-double of the season, which leads the team and ranks second in the ACC among freshmen. Three of the double-doubles have occurred in the last eight games.

Efficient Behind the Arc: Maryland entered the game second in the ACC in 3-point field goal percentage (.466) and attempted a season-low eight shots from beyond the arc. The Terps did, however, nail 50 percent (4-for-8) of their attempts.

FG-Percentage Defense: Maryland entered the game seventh in the nation in field-goal percentage defense (.373) and held Virginia to 37.9 percent from the field. Maryland has held eight of its last nine opponents under 40 percent shooting from the field (also .368 at BC, .294 vs. Longwood, .364 vs. NC State, .383 vs. Miami, .319 at Clemson, .377 at FSU, .377 vs. UNC).

Tidbits: Senior Eric Hayes entered the night on a streak of 19 straight free throws, dating back to Jan. 3. He went 1-for-1 from the free-throw line this evening ... Virginia suffered its largest margin of defeat on the season (19). The Cavaliers lost to USF, 66-49, on 11/16/09.
