Tipping Off: Maryland won in dramatic fashion, with Cliff Tucker hitting a 3-pointer as time expired to give the Terps their ninth straight win over Georgia Tech. The streak extends back to Jan. 30, 2005. Maryland improved to 13-1 at home this season and 9-3 in Atlantic Coast Conference play. The Terrapins took over sole possession of second place, pending the outcome of Sunday's Duke-Virginia Tech game. Maryland's six straight ACC home wins are the most since the Terps won 12 in a row from the beginning of the 2001-02 season through the first four games of 2002-03.

Game-Winner: Tucker's game-winning shot as time expired was the first for Maryland since Drew Nicholas' famous shot to beat UNC Wilmington in the first round of the 2003 NCAA Tournament (March 21).

Tough Stretch: Maryland finished a stretch of four games in eight days with the buzzer-beating win over Georgia Tech. Maryland won three of four games with victories over the Yellow Jackets, Virginia and NC State.

Stout D: Georgia Tech and Maryland entered the game with the 3rd and 5th-best field goal percentage defenses in the nation, respectively. The Yellow Jackets had been holding opponents to .370 shooting, while the Terps had held opponents to .372 shooting. After struggling to shoot just .371 in the first half, Maryland shot .500 in the second half to finish at .431 for the game. The Terps held the Yellow Jackets to .412 shooting for the game, just the second opponent in the last 11 games to shoot above .400.

Steady Hayes: Eric Hayes scored 15 points and dished out five assists for Maryland. He made 6 of 10 field-goal attempts, including 3 of 6 from the 3-point line. The senior entered the game second in the ACC in assist-to-turnover ratio and committed just two turnovers against Georgia Tech.

Mr. 2,000: By scoring five of Maryland's first seven points in the game, Greivis Vasquez reached 2,000 points in his career, becoming the first Atlantic Coast Conference player ever to reach 2,000 points, 700 assists and 600 rebounds in his career. Vasquez led the Terps with 18 points, making all seven of his free throws while dishing out eight assists and grabbing five rebounds.

Freshman Phenom: Freshman Jordan Williams narrowly missed his third straight double-double, finishing the game with nine points and a team-high 12 boards. He entered the game seventh in the ACC in rebounding with an 8.1 per-game average, and has led or tied for the team lead in rebounding in 19 of the Terps' 26 games.

Spark Off the Bench: Dino Gregory entered the game for the first time with 12:54 remaining in the first half and made an immediate impact. He scored four straight points on a jumper in the lane and a fast-break dunk, and finished the half with seven points.

Tidbits: Maryland outscored Georgia Tech 17-6 in points off turnovers... The Terps also held a 14-6 advantage in fast-break points... Maryland improved to 17-0 this season when leading at halftime... Maryland had fewer than 10 turnovers for the ninth time this season.
