Terps Face Rematch With FSU

    TALLAHASSEE, Fla. - Maryland faces a tough road trip to open the month of February when it travels to Tallahassee for a rematch with Florida State. The Terrapins beat Florida State, 77-68, on Jan. 10 in their Atlantic Coast Conference opener at Comcast Center. Maryland is tied for second in the ACC with Virginia, a half-game behind Duke. The Terps and Seminoles (T5th) are two of the six teams within a game of the top of the standings.

    The game will be aired by the Raycom network. Local stations carrying the game will include WDCA-TV (D.C.), WNUV-TV (Baltimore), WRDE-DT (Salisbury) and WHAG-TV (Hagerstown.)

    The game can also be heard across the Terrapin Sports Radio Network, including Baltimore flagships WJZ-FM (105.7), WJZ-AM (1300). Pregame on the network begins at 8 p.m.

  • In their last game, the Terrapins fell at Clemson, 62-53, on Sunday afternoon. Freshman center Jordan Williams had a double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds, earning him ACC Rookie of the Week honors.

  • In the first meeting between the Terrapins and Seminoles, Maryland got 22 points from senior guard Greivis Vasquez, 17 points from Eric Hayes asnd 13 from Landon Milbourne. The Terps led 41-27 at halftime and went on to post the victory. Vasquez and Hayes combined to hit 8 of 12 from 3-point range.

  • Maryland has held each of its last five opponents to 64 points or less (59.4 ppg). In the most recent NCAA national statistics (through 1/31), Maryland was 9th in the nation in scoring margin (now at +15.5 ppg). Florida State (.362) and Maryland (.370) are 1st and 6th, respectively, in the nation in FG% defense.

  • Senior forward Landon Milbourne needs 29 points to become the 49th Maryland player in history to reach 1,000 in his career. He had a string of nine straight games in double figures snapped at Clemson.

  • Senior guard Greivis Vasquez needs 127 points to become the 6th player at Maryland to score 2,000 points in his career. He has scored in double figures in 16 straight games.

    Scouting the Seminoles

    Florida State is 16-5 overall and 4-3 in the Atlantic Coast Conference heading into Thursday's matchup. The Seminoles have won three of their last four, with a 70-56 loss at Duke (1/27) being the only loss since 1/16... That stretch includes home wins over Virginia Tech and Georgia Tech and a 61-57 victory in their last outing at Boston College (1/30)...

    Sophomore center Solomon Alabi is the leading scorer for FSU, averaging 12.9 points... He is 2nd in the league in blocked shots with 2.6, trailing only UNC's Ed Davis.... Alabi, hitting .588 from the floor, is 2nd on the team with a 7.0 rebounds-per-game average...

    Sophomore forward Chris Singleton is the other FSU player scoring in double figures at 11.1 and leads the team with a 7.8 rpg average... Singleton leads the ACC in steals (2.3 spg) and is the only player in the league averaging more than 2.0 per game...

    Singleton had a double-double against the Terps on 1/10, getting 12 points and 14 rebounds, while Alabi had a team-high 17 points... Sophomore guard Deividas Dulkys had 15 points in that matchup, going 4-for-8 from 3-point range.
