
Seniors Highlight Win over Georgetown

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland men's swimming and diving team celebrated Senior Day in style Friday, defeating Georgetown, 154-96, at Eppley Recreation Natatorium.
Maryland's senior class of 2010 racked up four individual wins including three from Aleksandar Damjanic. Damjanic captured the 100 free (46.54) and the 100 fly (49.99) and had the top time in his exhibition swim in the 200 free (1:40.14). The Terps swept both events with seniors Brian Honore and Kevin Reardon finishing second and third in the 100 free and Andrew Relihan and Honore wrapping up the top three times in the 200 free.
Senior Ryan Greene led the day off with a win in the 50 free (21.16) and was followed by Matt Gruszecki in second (21.74). Maryland also went 1-2 in the 500 free as Nick Evans won the event (4:41.36) and Graham Eve touched the wall second (4:44.25).
Andrew Fisher won both the 50 (24.80) and 100 (52.73) back. The Terps also showed its domination in the breast as Jeff Winters (26.78), Jon Szakelyhidi (27.06) and Andrew McGehee (27.11) captured the top three spots in the 50 breast while Relihan won the 100 breast (59.50) followed by Szakelyhidi in third (59.86).
The Terps also swept the top three places in both the 50 and 100 fly as Roger Dent (22.98), Sean Stewart (23.22) and Winters (23.38) tallied the best times in exhibition swims and Dent (50.96) and Stewart (51.23) followed Damjanic's first-place finish in the 100 fly.
Lorin Pierson's 100 IM exhibition time (55.51) was tops on the day followed by senior Chris Rouchard (56.13). Eric Sachs tallied the top scores on the board with a 307.50 in the 1-meter and a 286.13 in the 3-meter.
The combo of Mitch Challacombe, Winters, Damjanic and Greene captured the 200 medley relay (1:34.40).
Maryland returns to competition when it travels to Chapel Hill Feb. 24-27 for the 2010 ACC Men's Swimming and Diving Championships.
