COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The University of Maryland baseball team will play a pair of games at home this week, as VCU visits Shipley Field at Bob "Turtle" Smith Stadium on Tuesday and Navy comes to College Park on Wednesday.
The Terps are 9-15 after being swept at Florida State last weekend, but are 3-1 this season when playing at home in mid-week games. Maryland has wins over Towson, Old Dominion and UMBC, with the lone loss coming at the hands of VMI in 11 innings on March 2.
LHP Adam Kolarek (1-2, 5.75) will take the mound on Tuesday against VCU's RHP Kyle Haynes (1-1, 3.63) at 6 p.m.
The Rams, winners of four straight, enter Tuesday's matchup with a 13-10 record. VCU, of the Colonial Athletic Association, swept Northeastern last weekend to start 3-0 in conference action. The Rams are the seventh team from the CAA Maryland has played this season, with the Terps owning a 6-4 record in those contests.
On Wednesday, Maryland faces a Navy team that returned all eight positional starters and eight pitchers from 2009. The Midshipmen are 17-7 this year, having played 22 of those games at home or at a neutral site. The Mids were picked to finish fourth in the six-team Patriot League in a preseason poll.
The Terps send another lefty to the mound to face Navy, as Eric Potter (1-4, 9.47) will face RHP Johnny Schoberl (2-2, 5.32). First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m.
