2010 ACC Tournament Bracket
GREENSBORO, N.C. -
With its seven-game winning streak earning the University of Maryland a tie for the regular-season championship in the Atlantic Coast Conference, the Terrapins have earned the No. 2 seed in this weekend's ACC Men's Basketball Tournament to be played at the Greensboro Coliseum.
After earning a first-round bye, Maryland (23-7, 13-3) will play its opening game on Friday at 7 p.m. in the quarterfinal round against the winner of Thursday's 7 p.m. game between No. 7 Georgia Tech (19-11, 7-9) and No. 10 North Carolina (16-15, 5-11). Maryland will be the No. 2 seed in the tournament for the 10th time and the first time since 2003.
A win in the quarterfinals would send the Terrapins to the 3:30 p.m. semifinal on Saturday against either 3rd-seeded Florida State (22-8, 10-6), 6th-seeded Clemson (21-9, 9-7) or 11th-seeded NC State (16-15, 5-11).
Duke, which shared the ACC regular-season title with Maryland, earned the No.1 seed by virtue of a tie-breaking system. The Blue Devils (26-5, 13-3) also open play in the quarterfinals on Friday at noon against the winner of Thursday's Boston College-Virginia game.
Maryland won its only regular-season meetings against both Georgia Tech (Feb. 20, 76-74) and North Carolina (Feb. 7, 92-71), with each matchup being played at Comcast Center.
Maryland advanced to the semifinals in last year's tournament, beating NC State and Wake Forest before losing to Duke. The Terrapins last won the ACC Tournament in 2004, coming from the 6th-seed to defeat each of the top three seeds - Wake Forest, NC State and Duke - to earn the title.
