Grizzlies Edge Hawks in Terp 'Reunion'

LAS VEGAS, Nev. - The Memphis Grizzlies edged the Atlanta Hawks, 89-85, on Monday in a battle of Maryland men's basketball alumni that opened each team's play in the NBA Summer League.

Vasquez scored two points with three rebounds and a team-high four assists in 17 minutes off the bench with the Grizzlies. He went 1-for-3 from the field, but missed both his 3-point attempts.

Milbourne also came off the bench for the Hawks but went 0-for-3 from the floor in three minutes of action. The Hawks play San Antonio on Wednesday.

Vasquez and Milbourne are two of seven Terrapin alumni playing in the NBA Summer League this season.

Nik Caner-Medley, Clippers - Scored a team-high 17 points in the Clippers' 89-64 loss to Washington on Monday.... 4-for-9 FG, 3-for-4 3FG, 4 assists, 28 minutes.

James Gist, Spurs - Had 8 points and 5 rebounds on Monday in an 85-62 win over Minnesota... Started at forward and played 27 minutes with a steal and two blocks.

D.J. Strawberry, Lakers - Started at guard and had 12 points with a team-high 3 assists in a 71-63 loss to the Knicks... Strawberry has scored in double figures in each of the Lakers' first three games and is averaging 12.0 points and 2.0 rebounds in 21.7 minutes per game... Lakers are 0-3.

Ekene Ibekwe, Trail Blazers - Had 10 points and a team-high 8 rebounds in 20 minutes off the bench on Saturday in Portland's 84-67 win over Houston.

Jamar Smith, Timberwolves - Had 5 points on 2-for-5 shooting in 12 minutes off the bench in the Spurs' 85-62 win on Monday.
