Storyline

Maryland ends its five-game, month-long homestand with a non-conference matchup with Colgate. The Terrapins, now 9-4 overall this season, are 3-1 so far on the homestand. They come into this game having won six of their last eight games.

The Terrapins' four losses have come by a combined 20 points, with three of those defeats at the hands of teams that began the season ranked in the national polls. Maryland has three losses by four points or less.

Sophomore center Jordan Williams continued his breakout season in Maryland's last game against North Florida. He finished with team-high totals in points (17) and rebounds (11) to post his 11th double-double of the year and his seventh straight. It was the first time a Terrapin player had seven straight double-doubles since Joe Smith did it at the end of the 1994-95 season. The school record for consecutive double-doubles is 12, accomplished by current ESPN analyst Len Elmore in the 1973-74 season.

Williams is currently fourth in the Atlantic Coast Conference in scoring (18.1 points per game) and leads the league in rebounding (11.8 per game). He is the only ACC player averaging in double figures on the boards.

Senior guard Adrian Bowie has found his scoring touch lately for the Terrapins. In his last three games, Bowie is averaging 10.8 points per game, shooting 64 percent from the floor and hitting 6 of 10 from 3-point range. Bowie, now seventh in the league in assists (3.9 per game), is averaging 8.8 points per game this year.

Maryland is playing Colgate for the second time in history and for the first time since a 113-53 victory on 12/8/1994 in Cole Field House.

Scouting the Raiders

Colgate is coming off its first win of the season, an 80-61 victory over Longwood on Sunday, and has a 1-11 mark on the year. Sophomore forward Brandon James and junior center Nick Pascale led Colgate in its victory as both posted double-doubles.

Pascale (6.3 pg) and James (4.8 pg) are the top rebounders for Colgate, while Yaw Gyawu is the top scorer at 12.1 pg. The Raiders have experimented with the starting lineup throughout the season as 10 different players have earned starts. Only Gyawu has started in all 12 games.

Senior guard Joe Hoban and junior guard Mike Venezia have also provided scoring; both are averaging 9.2 ppg, while Hoban is the most accurate 3-point shooter on the squad (.333) and leads the team in assists (36) and steals (15).

The Raiders were picked to finish seventh in the eight-team Patriot League's preseason poll. Today's contest marks their third of the season against a team from a BCS conference. Colgate fell to Duke, 110-58, on Nov. 19 and to Syracuse, 100-43, on Dec. 11.
