COLLEGE PARK, Md. - There is a definite youth movement within the 2011-12 Maryland men's swimming team with 10 newcomers added to head coach Sean Schimmel's fourth roster at the helm of the program.

RETURNERS

Andrew Relihan returns for his senior year after an impressive first three seasons in College Park. Relihan landed on the podium at the ACC Championships for the second time in his career, taking third place in the 200 back. He owns or is part of five school records, including the 200 back, 200 IM and 400 IM.

Other top returners include John Hauser, Matt Meserole, Colin Stang, Sean Stewart and Jeff Winters.

Hauser registered top-two marks in the 50, 100, 200, 500 and 1000 free and is the top returner in three of those events. Meserole was No. 2 on the squad in the 100 and 200 back. Stang was Maryland's top performer in the 100 and 200 breast and Stewart was tops in the 100 and 200 fly.

Other returners looking to make waves this season include Bradley Dillon, Peter Fittin, Rob Maurer, Alex Spina, and Jon Thielen.

NEWCOMERS

Ten newcomers will hit the pool as Terrapins for the first time this season, including nine freshmen and one transfer from Clemson.

Anderson Sloan spent one season at Clemson before transferring to Maryland, where he will have three years of eligibility remaining.

With the signing of Kyle Madley and Charlie Rommel, the Terrapin men add stellar speed to the pool for 2011-2012 and beyond. Other signees Spencer Sterling and Andrew Blyskal bring talents in the fly and backstroke as well as the mid-distance free. David Speese will be called upon to help with the breaststroke and IM.

Raymon Cswerko is a diverse talent with skill in the freestyle, breast and IM. Ryan Magee will likely specialize in the backstroke and IM and Aaron Sears will compete in the freestyle and breast. Matthew Tynan will add depth to the distance corps.

"I am really excited about how these young men will bring their talents to this team as we continue to give this team the foundation it needs to rise up in the ACC," Schimmel said. "I am looking to hold these men accountable and impact this team in a big way."

DIVERS

The men's diving unit has new leadership this year as Tom Davidson takes over the program after the departure of Anton Slobonouv last summer. Davidson, who helped guide University of California-Berkley to a national championship in 2009, inherits a group with two veteran juniors and a promising sophomore.

Clewlow was forced to sit out the 2010-11 season but is poised to make a big impact in his sophomore season. A native of Southhampton, England, Clewlow was a national champion in the 10 meter synchro in 2008.

Motsiopoulus and Tolino both return for their third season at Maryland.
