COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland swimming and diving team was dominant Saturday, sweeping defending America East Conference champion UMBC at Eppley Recreation Natatorium.

The Terrapin men's squad picked up its first win of the year, topping the Retrievers 202-98. Maryland was led by John Hauser who touched the wall first in the 50 free (20.65), 100 free (45.90), and 200 free (1:39.88). The Terps picked up other top first place finishes from Bradley Dillon in the 100 back (50.47), Anderson Sloan in the 100 breast (57.80), David Speese in the 200 breast (2:05.36), Jeff Winters in the 100 fly (50.33) and Andrew Relihan in the 200 IM (1:54.42).

Other top performers on the day included second place showings from Matthew Tynan (1000 free - 9:32.85, 500 free - 4:37.35), Matt Meserole (100 back - 51.58), Speese (100 breast - 57.94), Sean Stewart (200 fly - 1:50.14, 100 fly - 51.16), Charlie Rommel (100 free - 46.80), and Relihan (200 back - 1:50.63).

Jack Clewlow swept the diving events, winning the 3-meter (372.68) and the 1-meter (329.55). The Terps also captured both relays as the team of Dillon, Sloan, Winters, and Hauser won the 200 medley (1:31.28) and Peter Fittin, Sloan, Rob Maurer and Stewart took home the 200 free (1:25.00).

On the women's side, Maryland tallied its third win of the year, toppling its intrastate rival 233-67. The Terps captured individual wins from Kacie Ciampoli in the 100 free (10:13.76), Ginny Glover in the 200 free (1:51.41) and the 200 back (2:02.79), Melanie Busch in the 100 back (57.10), Laura Flewelling in the 100 breast (1:03.81), Megan Lafferty in the 50 free (23.31) and 100 fly (55.77), Carolyn Fittin in the 100 free (51.43), Alexa Hamilton in the 200 breast (2:17.33), Victoria Cassidy in the 500 free (4:59.83) and Jennifer Roberts in the 200 IM (2:04.41).

Maryland also picked up second place finishes from Holly Rebovich (1000 free - 10:31.52), Roberts (200 free - 1:51.92), Addison Koelle (100 back - 57.30, 200 back - 2:03.91), Hamilton (100 breast - 1:05.04), Meggie Schmidt (200 fly - 2:06.91), Flewelling (200 breast - 2:19.91), Ciampoli (500 free - 5:04.07), Fittin (100 fly - 56.07), and Cassidy (200 IM - 2:07.54).

Alisa Kurbatova won both the 1-meter (323.48) and 3-meter (314.78) dive events. Maryland also swept the relays as Glover, Flewelling, Lafferty and Fittin touched the wall first in the 200 medley (1:43.98) and the 200 free as Fittin, Lafferty, Kudryashova, Glover finished with time of 1:34.70.

"It was a really good day," head coach Sean Schimmel said. "It's taken some time to get to this point, especially with the men's team, and we've gotten here and that really showed today. It was a great atmosphere and they fed off that excitement and did a great job. They came together today and it was a reflection of the team we are and the team we can be in the future."

Maryland plays host to the annual Terp Cup beginning Thursday at Eppley Recreation Natatorium.
