Storyline
Maryland heads back to the road to face a rematch with Virginia Tech in a key Tuesday-night matchup with the Hokies. The Terrapins, who have won five of their last seven games, are back on court quickly following a 76-72 loss at Boston College on Saturday. Virginia Tech beat Maryland 74-57 at Comcast Center in the first meeting of the year between the teams.
The Terrapins are in a four-team logjam in the Atlantic Coast Conference standings. Maryland is 5-5 in league games and in seventh place, but sits only a full-game behind the fourth-place Hokies (6-4) in the standings. Clemson and Boston College come into this week's round of games tied for fifth at 6-5 as four teams battle for the fourth spot and the final first-round bye at next month's ACC Tournament.
Sophomore center Jordan Williams continues to lead the Terrapins in scoring (17.1 ppg) and rebounding (11.8). He is also leading the ACC in rebounding. Williams was among the 30 players on the mid-season watch list for the Naismith Award last week.
Senior forward Dino Gregory led five Terrapins in double figures on Saturday at Boston College with a career-high 15 points. In Maryland's last seven games (Terps are 5-2), Gregory is averaging 10.1 points and 6.9 rebounds in 30.9 minutes per game.
Maryland's scoring has been more balanced in the last couple games. Sean Mosley, Terrell Stoglin and Pe'Shon Howard have each hit double figures in scoring in each of the last two games. Howard comes into the Virginia tech matchup eighth in the ACC in assist-turnover ratio (1.93).
Scouting the Hokies
The Hokies enter Tuesday's game with a 16-7 overall record and are 6-4 in ACC action... They haven't lost a home game since Dec. 5, 2010, when they fell 57-54 to Virginia, and have won three of their last four overall... They are coming off a 102-77 win over Georgia Tech on Sunday in which Malcolm Delaney scored 33 points.
Delaney is second in the league in scoring at 19.0 ppg; the senior had 19 points and seven assists in Tech's 74-57 win at Maryland on Jan. 20... Erick Green led the Hokies in scoring in that game, tallying 24 on 12-of-16 shooting, along with four steals... Green, a sophomore guard, had 15 points and six rebounds in the win over Georgia Tech...

He had 25 points and 19 rebounds in a loss to Boston College on Feb. 5 and has put together a streak of five straight games with a double-double... Forward Terrell Bell and center Victor Davila join Allen in the frontcourt... Davila had 13 points on 6-of-8 shooting in the Jan. 20 meeting...
Virginia Tech ranks second in the conference in rebounding defense (32.4) and third in scoring defense (60.2) and field goal percentage (.465).
Upcoming
