BLACKSBURG, Va. - Kiani Profit turned in the fastest leg of any participant in the women's 4x400 relay to spark Maryland to a sixth-place finish in the event Saturday on the final day of the Atlantic Coast Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships hosted by Virginia Tech.

Profit, who won the ACC pentathlon on Thursday and posted a career-best in the long jump on Friday, ran a blazing 53.44 on the second leg of the Terrapins' relay. She joined Arielle Statham, D'Ambour Lewis and DeAnna Brown in a sixth-place finish of 3:42.90 that was Maryland's best of the year and fifth-best all-time.

Those three team points helped the Maryland women to 28 for the competition and a ninth-place finish in the team standings. Clemson scored 152 to dominate the meet and outscore Florida State (100.5) and North Carolina (69).

The Maryland men got a point-scoring performance from freshman Josh Haghighi, who placed eighth in the men's shot put. Haghighi had a best effort of 51 feet, 4.50 inches.

The Terrapin men, bolstered by a 1-2 finish Friday by Dwight Barbiasz and Jon Hill in the men's high jump, finished with 22 team points and an eighth-place finish. Host Virginia Tech won the men's team title with 140 points, with Florida State (99) and NC State (83.5) in the top three.

Maryland is expected to compete next weekend at a last chance meet to be determined.
