Game 2 Box Score

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -
Senior Kerry Hickey of the Maryland softball team notched her 11th career no-hitter Saturday in game one of a doubleheader at Florida State. The Terps beat the Seminoles 1-0 in the first game and a five-run top of the seventh inning led Maryland to a 7-4 victory in the second game.
The two wins are Maryland's (32-13, 8-4 ACC) first-ever back-to-back wins over Florida State (25-23, 7-9 ACC) in school history.
Hickey, who is second on the Terrapins' career strikeout list, notched 10 strikeouts in her 7.0 inning complete game win in game one. This was her first no-hitter of this season.
With the second game tied at four with two outs in the top of the seventh inning, junior leftfielder Vangie Galindo hit her first home run of the year over the centerfield wall to score three runs for Maryland. Galindo notched six hits in her eight at-bats on the day and brought in five RBI.
In game one, the Terps scored the only run of the game in the first inning. Sara Acosta led off with a walk and moved to second on a wild pitch by Florida State's Sarah Hamilton. Galindo followed with a single through the left side that sent Acosta to third. Two batters later, Marisha Branson hit a standup double to center that brought in Acosta.
Maryland took an early 2-0 lead in the second game. With two outs and runners on first and third in the third inning, Galindo doubled to left center to score both runs.
The Seminoles took a 4-2 lead after scoring all four runs in the bottom of the sixth. Back-to-back base hits from Morgan Bullock and Shayla Jackson put runners on first and third for Jen Lapicki. She doubled to score both runs. Robin Ahrberg reached on a fielder's choice that brought in a third run and Celeste Gomez brought in the final run with a single to left center. With the bases loaded and one out, freshman Ashley Czechner got the next two Seminoles out on strikes.
In the top of the seventh, freshman Candice Beards led off with a single and Lauren Ghent came on to pinch run. Lexi Carroll followed with a double to put runners on first and third. Kathy McLaughlin grounded out on the next play, but brought in an RBI to make the score 4-3. After an FSU pitching change that brought Hamilton back, Nikki Maier was hit by a pitch and Acosta followed with a single to score the tying run. Galindo's three-run homer gave the Terrapins the 7-4 lead.
Hickey came on to pitch the seventh inning and recorded three ground outs to end the game.
Junior Kendra Knight started in the circle in the second game. She went 5.1 innings and allowed four hits, three runs and notched five strikeouts.
