Jan. 21, 2012

Box Score

PHILADELPHIA - Terrell Stoglin scored 20 points and Pe'Shon Howard had 15, but Maryland fell to Temple Saturday morning at the Palestra, 73-60.

James Padgett added 10 points and Sean Mosley had a season-high 10 rebounds, but it wasn't enough to overcome Temple's Khalif Wyatt and Ramone Moore, who scored 20 points each.

Juan Fernandez added 14 points and Aaron Brown had 12 for the Owls (13-5), who won for the seventh time in nine games. Temple had a 10-point lead sliced to one in the second half until Wyatt and Moore hit consecutive 3-pointers to give them some needed breathing room.

Stoglin made a string of big buckets in the second half to rally the Terrapins (12-6) to within one point on two occasions. His jumper with 5:26 left made it 57-56, but Wyatt and Moore knocked down a pair of successive 3-pointers to stretch the lead back to seven and spur a 16-4 run to close the game.

Stoglin notched his 13th 20-point game this season, while Howard made 7 of 12 shots from the field to finish with a career-high 15.

The Terrapins lost center Alex Len to an ankle injury in the first half. Maryland could not recover from 16 turnovers and missed 12 of 16 3-point attempts.

Wyatt added seven assists and Brown had eight rebounds for the Owls.
