Terps to Host JMU in a Midweek Clash

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland baseball team continues its nine-game homestand with it plays host to James Madison (11-7, 4-1 CAA) on Tuesday, March 19 at 4 p.m. at Bob "Turtle" Smith Stadium.
The Terps and Dukes met on Feb. 27 with Maryland (12-7, 2-4 ACC) winning the matchup 10-5 in Harrisonburg.
Maryland will turn to Alex Robinson to earn the squad's second win over James Madison. Robinson has accumulated big strikeout totals in two of his last three starts. Against Oakland and Princeton, Robinson had 17 strikeouts total and fanned a career-high nine against the Golden Grizzlies.
The freshman has 20 strikeouts in 17-1/3 innings pitched this season and is averaging 1.15 strikeouts per inning. Robinson has not surrendered more than three earned runs in his last three starts and has allowed only one extra base hit.
The Terps have won 10 straight non-conference games entering Tuesday's matchup and are 9-0 against non-conference foes at home. In those contests, Charlie White and Kyle Convissar have led the Terps offensively. White is hitting .429 with a .593 OBP. The sophomore has stolen 18 bases, scored 13 runs and driven in 10.
Convissar has a team-high 13 RBI in the last 10 non-conference games with two extra base hits. Blake Schmit is hitting .333 and hit the first home run of the season against JMU in the last meeting.
Over the last 10 games overall, K.J. Hockaday is hitting .308 with a team-best four extra base hits.
JMU has yet to announce a starting pitcher for Tuesday's game.
Scouting the Dukes
After losing to the Terps, the Dukes rattled off nine straight wins before losing game two of its weekend series to UNC Wilmington on Saturday. As a team, JMU is averaging 8.8 runs per game.
Matt Tenaglia leads the team in hitting with a .448 batting average. He is slugging .612 with a team-high nine doubles. Chad Carroll has a .711 slugging percentage with four doubles, three triples and a home run. The Dukes have hit 11 home runs in 18 games with nine different players with at least one.
The Dukes have a team ERA of 5.12. Ben Garner made the start last time against the Terps. Maryland scored five runs against Garner in four innings of work. In JMU's last midweek contest against VMI, it was all hands on deck as the squad used eight pitchers.
