Scouting the Terps
-Maryland has played well at home this season. The Terps sport a 14-5 record at the friendly confines of Bob "Turtle" Smith Stadium, but are 2-4 in their six ACC contests. Maryland dropped two of three games against No. 7 Florida State (3/15-17) and Wake Forest (3/22-24).
-Kyle Convissar has been at his best for the Terps at home. In 19 home games, Convissar leads the team in BA (.391), slugging (.507) and OBP (.488). Of his team-high 32 RBI, 25 have come in home games.
-Maryland has stolen at least two bases in eight of the its last 10 games and continues to be one of the most aggressive teams in the country on the basepaths. The Terps lead the ACC with 80 steals, a total which is tied for 10th nationally. NC State is the next closest team in the conference with 61 SBs.
-Charlie White leads the ACC in steals (32) and ranks second nationally. White is averaging .97 steals per game and has swiped nine bags in 15 ACC games, which is the highest total in the conference.
-As difficult as the Terrapins have been to contain on the bases, they have been equally as strong at throwing out potential base stealers. The Terps have allowed 31 stolen bases on 52 attempts. The three projected weekend starting pitchers have been particularly hard to run against. The Terps have caught 53.3 percent (8 of 15) of base runners attempting to steal with them on the mound.
-Jack Cleary has thrown out 11 runners attempting to steal so far this season after throwing out 16 in 2012.
-The Terps have 76 doubles, which ranks third in the conference and is 12th nationally. The Terps are averaging 2.30 per game, which is the second-best average in the ACC. Through 33 games last season, Maryland had 58 doubles.
-The Terps' 16 run outburst at George Mason on Wednesday was the fifth time this season Maryland has scored 10-plus runs in a game. It marked the most runs scored by the Terps this season and the most since the team scored 21 against Duke on April 14, 2012. Maryland has scored five runs or more 20 times this season.
-The Terrapins have out hit their opponents in 20 of their 33 games this season and are 12-8 in those contests.
-Kyle Convissar has been hit by a pitch 17 times and in six of the last 10 games. His season total leads the ACC and is tied for second nationally. In his career, the junior has been hit 44 times, which is tied for the 11th-highest total among active players nationally.

-Miami ranks 11th in the ACC in batting and scoring. The Hurricanes are averaging 4.6 runs per game with a .261 BA. Just like the Terps, the Canes lay down a lot of sacrifice bunts. Miami has 38, a total that is second only to Maryland and ranks 19th nationally.
-As a pitching staff, the club has a 3.81 ERA, but walks very few batters. The Canes only average 2.91 walks per nine, the second best average in the conference, and have 2.46 K/BB ratio, the third best in the ACC.
