As a sophomore (2004): Played in 11 games with one start ... won 16-of-32 draws (50 percent), second-best percentage on the sqaud ... saw most action his career, winning 6-of-11 face-offs in 14-7 win over Bucknell (3/17) ... also had two groundballs vs. the Bison ... won 3-of-5 face-offs in 19-4 rout of Butler (3/23), also had a groundball ... won only face-off in 11-2 win over No. 10 Virginia (4/3) ... captured 4-of-7 face-offs in 9-6 loss to No. 4 Navy (4/10) ... also had three groundballs vs. the Midshipmen ... took first-career game-opening face-off in 14-10 loss at No. 1 Johns Hopkins (4/17) ... won only face-off against both Penn (5/8) and Notre Dame (5/1) ... named to the Maryland and ACC Honor Rolls.
As a freshman (2003): Face-off specialist who saw limited time until NCAA Tournament, playing in just six games ... won career-high 3-of-5 face-offs in NCAA Semifinals vs. Virginia (5/24), also had two groundballs in most extensive playing time of year ... lost only face-off in ACC Semifinals vs. Duke (4/18) ... won one face-off at Stony Brook (3/15) and vs. Butler (3/25) ... lost only face-off in collegiate debut vs. Duke (3/2) ... named to the Maryland and ACC Honor Rolls.
Before Maryland: Played two years of varsity lacrosse at Loyola Blakefield High School in Towson, Md., under coach John Tucker ... helped the Dons to the MIAA title as a junior ... played in the MIAA-D.C. area All-Star Game following his senior season ... led the Dons to a 17-3 record as a senior and the conference championship game.
Personal: Son of Jeanne and Rich Tamberrino ... brother of Tom, Joey and Kathleen ... played two years of varsity football for coach Joe Brune ... father Rich is a longtime lacrosse official and is the National Lacrosse League's Director of Officials ... brother, Tom, completed a four-year career of lacrosse at Georgetown in 2002 and was a member of the only Hoya team to reach the Final Four ... brother, Joe, recently graduated from Salisbury and won two NCAA Division III National Championships in lacrosse ... sister, Kathleen, now plays field hockey at Bridgewater College ... pursuing a double-major in finance and general business.
