Terps Senior Class Looks To Remain Undefeated In Reynolds Versus Wolfpack; Play To Push Winning Streak In Raleigh To School-Record Four Consecutive Games
TERPS TRAVEL TO RALEIGH IN SEARCH OF ACC WIN NO. 2
Fresh from its win over No. 13 Florida State Wednesday night, Maryland travels to Raleigh, N.C. to face N.C. State. The game marks the first of four during the regular season on Tobacco Road and the third of five consecutive games televised nationally by ESPN. The Terps have now defeated two nationally ranked teams this season - No. 2 Kansas (86-83, December 7) and No. 13 Florida State (84-71, January 7). Maryland enters today's game versus N.C. State having won six of the last seven games between the schools.
TERPS LOOK TO PUSH WINNING STREAK IN RALEIGH TO FOUR GAMES
Maryland travels to Raleigh to play the Wolfpack of N.C. State and will look to accomplish a feat no other four-year class in school history has done - win four consecutive games in Reynolds Coliseum. Maryland's true senior class of Rodney Elliott and Sarunas Jasikevicius enters this afternoon's game with a perfect 3-0 record. Guard Matt Kovarik, a redshirt senior, has a 3-1 record as a member of the Terps here.
TERPS' WILLIAMS IS A WINNER IN REYNOLDS COLISEUM
Terps' Head Coach Gary Williams has as many wins, four, in Reynolds Coliseum, as he has at any other ACC venue during his tenure at Maryland. Clint Harrison scored 17 of his 24 points in the second half as North Carolina State continued its surprising run in the Atlantic Coast Conference tournament with a 65-58 upset of 22nd-ranked Maryland in the semifinals at Greensboro, North Carolina. Obinna Ekezie had 18 points and 11 rebounds and Maryland turned up the defense in the second half to rally past No. 13 Florida State 81-74 Wednesday night. The Terrapins trailed by 12 points early in the second half, then forged ahead by limiting the Seminoles to two field goals over a 12-minute span. A basket by Randell Jackson broke the Florida State drought, but those were the Seminoles' only points over a six-minute stretch. Entering Wednesday night's game in Cole Field House Florida State ranked third in the ACC in rebound margin and had only been outrebounded four times in its first 14 games. Maryland, which enters this afternoon's game versus N.C. State ranked third in the ACC in rebound margin won the battle of the boards against the Seminoles by a 49-37 margin. Maryland has outrebounded four of its last five opponents.
