Terps Rally To Stun Tar Heels
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. -- Obinna Ekezie scored a season-high 21 points as
19th-ranked Maryland rallied from a 22-point second-half deficit to stun No. 13
North Carolina, 85-75, in an Atlantic Coast Conference game.
Keith Booth added 20 points and 12 rebounds for the Terrapins
(13-1, 3-0 ACC), who are off to their best start in conference
play since going 4-0 to begin the 1958-59 season. Maryland also
tied its best start in school history, equalling its 1975-76
start.
Antawn Jamison scored 24 points and Serge Zwikker added 18 for
North Carolina (9-3), which is off to its first 0-2 start in
conference play since the 1979-80 season. All three of the Tar
Heels' losses have come to ranked opponents, with the previous
two coming to Arizona and Wake Forest.
North Carolina swingman Vince Carter did not dress due to a hip
pointer suffered in Saturday's loss to Wake Forest.
The Tar Heels lead the all-time series, 100-44, but Maryland has
won its last two games at North Carolina.
