Redshirt freshman Carlisle Abele discusses the past week and previews the upcoming matches against Virginia Tech and Virginia.
As a Junior (2012): Appeared in 20 matches for the Terps in 2012 finishing with 31 kills and 14 blocks...against Miami (10/12), totaled a season-high seven kills...at the Blackbird Invitational, finished with two kills and a dig in a three-set win over NJIT (9/15)...against No. 16 Tennessee (9/8), recorded three kills and a solo block...tallied two kills and two digs against Binghamton (9/1)...made her season debut against New Hampshire and registered three kills (8/25).
As a Sophomore (2011): Returned from an ACL injury to finish the season with 77 kills...tallied eight kills, five digs and three blocks against Virginia (11/12)...finished with five kills against Georgia Tech (11/6)...career-high 11 kills against Clemson (11/4)...six kills at Duke (10/15)...nine kills and two blocks against Wake Forest (10/14)...at Clemson (10/8), had a career-high 10 kills...had five kills and three blocks against Georgia Tech (10/7)...tallied four kills against Virginia Tech (10/2)...six kills against Virginia (9/30)...against No. 25 Ohio State (9/17) recoded two kills, two digs and two blocks...made her Maryland debut against Quinnipiac (9/3) and recorded three kills and finished with a .500 attack percentage.
2010: Out for the season with an ACL injury.
Before Maryland: In 2009 voted into the Alabama All-Star Volleyball Game as a part of the North Alabama squad, went on to defeat the South Alabama team...helped lead her team to an area championship in 2007...team finished sub-state in 2008, while she set a record for the second most kills in a single season...claims school record for most aces in a single season...in 2009 claimed single season record for blocks...holds record at Mountain Brook High School in kills (1,236), second in blocks (320) and aces (224)...named to the 2009 6A All-State Team...selected Most Outstanding Volleyball Player from the Birmingham Kiwanis Club...voted Most Athletic for Class of 2010 at MBHS...played with Birmingham Volleyball Club from 2008-10.
