2005: Title Terps
Maryland won its second national championship in program history in 2005, defeating New Mexico in the title game.
After easily dispensing of SMU in the national semifinals, highlighted by two goals in a mere 15 seconds by Jason Garey, the top-seeded Terps moved on to the championship, where they would face the No. 2 Lobos.
A Marc Burch goal in the 31st minute was all the Terps would need with the help of superior goalkeeping by Chris Seitz, who saved a penalty kick and forced the ensuing rebound to go high in the 50th minute to seal the Terps title bid.
