COLLEGE PARK, Md. – University of Maryland tennis players Welma Luus and Nataliya Bredikhina will team to compete in the doubles section of the 2014 Riviera/ITA Women's All-American Championships at the Riviera Tennis Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif.
The doubles main draw will start play on Oct. 2 with the finals on Oct. 5. The field includes reigning NCAA Doubles Champions Erin Routliffe and Maya Jenson of Alabama along with strong North Carolina duo Jamie Loeb and Hayley Carter.
Bredikhina and Luus started their partnership late in the 2013 season and played well at No. 1 against a strong ACC schedule. The pair went 4-4, with wins against Syracuse, Wake Forest, UMBC and NC State.
Luus was a member of the last Maryland doubles team to compete at the All-American. The South African played alongside Ana Belzunce in prequalifying doubles in 2011.
Main draw doubles finalists will receive automatic entry into the USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Championships, Nov. 6-9 at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Flushing, N.Y.
Now in its 31st year of existence, the All-American brings together the best returning singles and doubles players. For updates on everything related to the Championships, follow @ITAtennis on Twitter, and to join the discussion use the hashtag #RivieraITA.
