
No. 7 Nebraska Powers Past Maryland, 42-3

LINCOLN, Neb. – Redshirt junior Geoffrey Alexander picked up a win at 133 pounds, but the Maryland wrestling team dropped its second straight Big Ten dual, 42-3, to No. 7 Nebraska in Lincoln Sunday afternoon.
The Terrapins (4-3, 0-2 Big Ten) were unable to gain momentum against the Huskers (2-0, 1-0 Big Ten). Alexander ended his weekend unbeaten after earning a victory by forfeit Friday night at Wisconsin.
The dual started at 125 pounds with Josh Polacek taking on Tim Lambert. After a back-and-forth two periods, Lambert was able to secure a pin at 5:52 to give Nebraska a 6-0 lead.
Alexander put Maryland on the board at 133 pounds, dispatching Eric Montoya, 4-2. A close match at 141 pounds followed as Anthony Abidin edged Shyheim Brown, 4-2.
Justin Arthur upped the Nebraska lead at 149 pounds, earning a 17-5 major decision over Shane Arechiga. James Green notched a major decision of his own at 157 pounds to push the Huskers' lead to 17-3.
The Huskers earned pins at 165 and 174 pounds through Austin Wilson (2:46) and Robert Kokesh (4:34). Aaron Studebaker then defeated Tony Gardner by an 11-3 major decision.
Nebraska finished off the win with Micah Barnes' 8-2 decision over Rob Fitzgerald and Colin Jenson's pin of Ryan Kail at heavyweight.
Maryland is back on the road for its next dual match on Friday, Dec. 5 at Pittsburgh. Action is scheduled to get underway at 7 p.m.
