Wells to Miss Four Weeks with Fractured Wrist

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Senior guard/forward Dez Wells sustained a broken bone in his right wrist and is expected to miss four weeks, head coach Mark Turgeon announced Friday.

Wells, who suffered the injury during Maryland's 72-63 win over No. 13 Iowa State at the CBE Classic, had surgery Friday morning in Baltimore.

"Dez has been playing at a very high level and we will certainly miss our team leader," Turgeon said.  "I am extremely disappointed for Dez because I know how hard he has worked in the offseason to prepare for his senior season."

Wells has averaged a team-best 16.2 points and added 4.8 rebounds per contest en route to leading the Terps to a 5-0 start. Wells was selected to the CBE Classic All-Tournament team as he averaged 14.0 points, 7.5 rebounds and 4.0 assists while leading the Terps to wins over Arizona State and the aforementioned 13th-ranked Cyclones.
