GREENSBORO, N.C. - Maryland placed a league-high three student-athletes on the 2014 All-Atlantic Coast Conference Preseason Team, league officials announced Tuesday.
Redshirt junior attacker Brooke Griffin and midfielders Taylor Cummings and Kelly McPartland all landed on the 13-member team.
Griffin – an All-ACC selection in 2013 – racked up 49 goals and 24 assists last season. Cummings and McPartland – members of the U.S. national team – racked up 43 goals and 25 goals, respectively for the Terps a year ago. Cummings was the ACC Freshman of the Year and an IWLCA First Team All-American in 2013.
The ACC boasts a new look this season with the addition of Syracuse and Notre Dame. A vote by the league coaches slated North Carolina to win the conference with Maryland coming in a close second. ACC newcomer Syracuse landed in third and Duke and Virginia rounded out the top five at fourth and fifth, respectively.
