COLLEGE PARK, Md. - Maryland freshman guard Melo Trimble has been selected for the Wooden Award Midseason Top 25, which was released Wednesday.
Trimble is one of five freshmen on the list, and one of four players from the Big Ten joining Indiana guard Yogi Ferrell, Wisconsin center Frank Kaminsky and Ohio State guard D'Angelo Russell.
The Wooden Award is annually given to the country's top player.
Trimble is second in the nation in free throws made (120) and fifth in attempts (136) while sitting atop the conference in free throw percentage (.882). He is ninth in the Big Ten in scoring, posting 15.7 points per game.
No. 14 Maryland battles Michigan State on Saturday at 4 p.m. at XFINITY Center. The game will be shown live on CBS.
