COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The Estate of Dr. William J. Graham has established an endowed fund to provide scholarships for undergraduate student athletes who play for the University of Maryland baseball team. Dr. Graham was a former varsity baseball player and long-time supporter of the University.
Dr. Graham passed away in 2013. Born in Maryland, Graham was a 1951 graduate of the University and played baseball and was a member of the Kappa Alpha Fraternity. Post-graduation, Graham served in the United States Army in the Korean War and received the Army Commendation Medal for meritorious service. Graham worked for the Budd Company and held numerous executive positions before retiring in 1997 as Corporate Director of Employee Development.
William Graham's total bequest was about $2.1 million, with 50 percent for baseball scholarships (William J. Graham Memorial Baseball Scholarship) and 50 perfect to education for scholarships (William C. and William J. Graham Memorial Scholarship).
