Terrapins Win Firestone Invitational

AKRON, Ohio - The Maryland men's golf team won the Firestone Invitational Tuesday at the Firestone Country Club in Akron, Ohio. As a team, the Terrapins went eight-under overall with a combined score of 856 (284-285-287) through the 54-hole tournament Monday and Tuesday.
Sophomore David Kocher won the 91-player individual field, as he went -9 over the three rounds with a combined score of 207 (68-68-71). This is the first collegiate individual title for Kocher.
"This was a good, solid win for the boys this week," head coach Jason Rodenhaver said. "All five of our guys were in it all three rounds. A special congrats to David Kocher. He's been close to winning an event for us and it's nice to see him get one."
Senior Tom Harris finished tied for fifth on the leaderboard, as he shot a 211 (67-74-70), which was five-under par on the event.
Sophomore Joe Brooks tied for 19th with his score of 216 (73-71-72) to go even through the 54 holes.
Freshman Justin Feldman went eight-over with a 224 (76-74-74) and freshman Timothy Colanta shot a 225 (78-72-75).
The 16-team field included: tournament-host Akron, Ball State, Eastern Kentucky, Eastern Michigan, Francis Marion, Georgetown, Illinois State, Ohio, Old Dominion, South Carolina-Aiken, Toledo, Valparaiso, Western Kentucky, William & Mary, and Xavier — Oklahoma State (two individuals).
