“Purdue is an awfully good team and they've played us hard twice this season,” head coach Steve Aird said. “The team played well at times, and competed with the No. 17 team in the country, which shows the level of improvement these players have made this season.”
Senior outside hitter Adreené Elliott led Maryland with 16 kills. Three different Terps notched two blocks apiece and five Terrapins served aces versus the Boilermakers. Senior defensive specialist tied for the match lead with 19 digs.

After a kill from Ashlyn MacGregor, the Boilermakers posted another three points to take an 18-13 lead. Elliott notched back-to-back kills to bring the set to 21-17. With Purdue at set point, Elliott and Twilley tallied kills as the Terps extended the set four times before a Maryland service error ended the set with a 25-22 Purdue favor.

The teams traded points as the set featured 12 ties. A Kelsey Wicinski ace and a MacGregor kill helped the Terps retake the lead, 18-15. Twilley and Gaskin each posted late kills, and Twilley posted the set-winning kill to tie the match with a 25-22 set win.
The teams once again battled in the third set, challenging each other with 13 ties and six lead changes. Gaskin and MacGregor slammed down kills to give the Terps an 11-8 lead before the Boilermakers rattled off four straight points to tie the set. Purdue posted another 4-0 run to pull ahead, 18-14. Craigo tied the set for the final time with a kill at 21-21, but Purdue tallied four of the last five points to take the third set, 25-22.
The Boilermakers controlled the fourth set, using a 7-1 to take a 12-7 advantage. Gaskin pulled the Terps within three, 14-11, with a kill but Maryland was unable to start a run. After an Elliott kill, Purdue posted four consecutive points to win the set, 25-15.
The Terps continue their streak of ranked opponents as No. 8 Nebraska comes to College Park Saturday for a 7 p.m. match. The Huskers swept Maryland on Oct. 31.
