BALTIMORE – After winning the Terrapins' second consecutive NCAA Championship in 2015, five returning members of the Maryland women's lacrosse program were named Inside Lacrosse preseason All-Americans. The publication released the honors in its 2016 Face-Off Yearbook.
Maryland leads the first team with three preseason All-American picks, led by reigning two-time Tewaaraton winner Taylor Cummings. She is joined by junior defender Alice Mercer and sophomore attacker Megan Whittle on the first team.
Juniors Nadine Hadnagy and Zoe Stukenberg were selected to the publication's All-America second team. All five selections are Maryland's returning starters in 2016.
The Terps return three of their 2015 IWLCA All-Americans this season, including Cummings, Mercer and Whittle.
Maryland was also ranked No. 1 in the magazine's Face-Off Yearbook Top 20 rankings. The Terps spent the entirety of 2015 ranked No. 1 in both the IWLCA Coaches and Inside Lacrosse polls.
The Terps posted a 21-1 record in 2015, including a 5-0 record in the inaugural season of Big Ten lacrosse, en route to the program's 13th national championship. In addition to its returning talent, the Terrapins welcome the No. 2 freshmen class in 2016.
Maryland begins the 2016 campaign against William & Mary at the Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex in College Park on Feb. 13.
