
Terps Host Lafayette & Princeton In Capital Invite, St. Francis Tuesday

COLLEGE PARK, Md.— After spending the first month of the season on the road, the Maryland softball team returns home for five games at the Maryland Softball Stadium. The Terps will take on Lafayette, Princeton and St. Francis. The games against Lafayette and Princeton are part of the Capital Invitational, co-hosted with George Washington.
Last weekend the Terps (14-9, 0-0 Big Ten) took two of three in the JMU Invitational. The team picked up victories against Rhode Island and Stony Brook, while dropping a contest against host James Madison. Maryland scored a season-high 18 runs en route to an 18-3 victory over Rhode Island. The tally marks the largest margin of victory since a 15-0 triumph over Howard last season.
Shannon Bustillos led the Terps from the plate, hitting .444 and driving in five RBIs. Bridget Hawvermale registered her first career home run, a grand slam, against Rhode Island. Kaitlyn Schmeiser continued her dominant season from the mound last weekend, pitching 10 innings, striking out nine with a .70 ERA.
This weekend on the diamond
The Terps will tackle five games in three days. Maryland starts its home schedule with a double header on Sunday against Lafayette and a morning game against Princeton on Monday. The games versus Lafayette and Princeton are part of the Capital Invite co-hosted with George Washington. The Terrapins then welcome St. Francis to College Park for a double header on Tuesday.
