#1 Terps Host In-State Rival UMBC Wednesday

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The No. 1 Maryland women's lacrosse team returns to College Park to host in-state rival UMBC Wednesday at the Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex. Opening draw is scheduled for 7 p.m.

The Terrapins-Retrievers game will be live streamed on BTN Plus.

Scouting the terrapins

Through three games this season, Maryland is averaging 14.00 goals per game on 30.0 shots per game while limiting opponents to 7.33 goals and 16.3 shots per game.
Junior Taylor Cummings leads the Terrapins with nine goals, 18 draw controls and six caused turnovers. Sophomore Zoe Stukenberg has five goals and five assists for 10 points while freshman Megan Whittle has eight goals and one assist.
Junior Casey Pepperman has six ground balls on the season.
The Terps are first in the Big Ten and 15th nationally in caused turnovers per game (10.67). Maryland is 15th in the nation and first in the conference with 14.00 draw controls per game.
Cummings is ranked seventh nationally in draw controls per game (6.00) while the Terps are 15th in the nation with 14.00. Graduate goalkeeper Alex Fitzpatrick is second in the Big Ten and 30th nationally with a 7.53 goals-against average.

scouting the retrievers

UMBC comes in to Wednesday on a three-game win streak. The Retrievers defeated High Point, 7-5, on Saturday for their last win.
The team is averaging 7.80 goals per game and 22.4 shots per game. UMBC has a 6.54 goals against average.
Attacker Abby Wilson leads the team with 12 goals and 15 points. Freshman Kelsey Major has started each game in goal and holds a 4.69 GAA with 20 saves through five games.
The Retrievers were picked to finish fifth in the America East preseason coaches' poll.

Maryland is 9-0 all-time against UMBC.
The Terps opened the 2014 season at UMBC, taking home a 14-3 victory. Taylor Cummings and Zoe Stukenberg each scored four goals against the Retrievers. Cummings also picked up five draw controls.

Graduate goalkeeper Alex Fitzpatrick made her third straight start, finishing with seven saves in 53 minutes of play.

five terrapins named to tewaaraton watch list

Taylor Cummings, Megan Douty, Brooke Griffin, Kelly McPartland and Alice Mercer were named to the 2015 Tewaaraton Watch List in February.
The five Terps were the most players from any program named to the 50-player watch list.
All five players were named Inside Lacrosse preseason All-Americans.
Cummings is the reigning Tewaaraton Award winner, while Douty was a finalist last season.

The Terps are slated to play at least 11 games this season on the Big Ten Network platform.
Maryland will be featured on the Big Ten Network as the Terps take on Penn (3/18), Northwestern (3/26) and Penn State (4/23).
