KINGSMILL, Va. - The Maryland men's golf team is in fifth out of 29 teams after the first round at the Middleburg Bank Intercollegiate Sunday at the Kingsmill Resort in Kingsmill, Va. Senior Connor Tendall and freshman David Kocher are tied for seventh to lead the Terps.
Both Tendall and Kocher shot an even-70 in Sunday's first round. Sophomore Victor Fox and junior Tom Harris both went four-over par with a 74 to stay in the top 50 of the 159 player field.
Freshman Joe Brooks shot a 77 on the day.
As a team, Maryland went eight-over par with a 288 overall Sunday.
The Terrapins will compete Monday and Tuesday and will play 18 holes per day in the second and third. The Terps will tee off at noon Monday. Live scoring will not be available.
Maryland is one of 29 teams competing in the event. The Terps are joined by Air Force, Appalachian State, Binghamton, Boston College, Bucknell, Cleveland State, Dayton, Delaware, Eastern Kentucky, IPFW, James Madison, La Salle, Longwood, Loyola Chicago, Loyola (Md.), Miami (Ohio), Mississippi State, Missouri, Ohio, Old Dominion, Penn State, Radford, St. Francis (Pa.), St. Joseph's, Temple, Towson, Youngstown State and William and Mary.
