
Terps To Face Big Green For Midweek Double Header

COLLEGE PARK, Md.—After taking its inaugural Big Ten series against Iowa, the Maryland softball team returns home for a midweek interlude against Dartmouth. Wednesday's double header will start at 5:00 p.m. in the Maryland Softball Stadium.
This past weekend the team took two out of three games in its first Big Ten series against Iowa. The Terps (19-12, 2-1 Big Ten) overcame a 10-run deficit to win the first game, 15-14, while dropping the middle game, 8-4. Maryland ultimately blew past the Hawkeyes in the rubber game, 19-0.
Shannon Bustillos led the way for Maryland, hitting a .667 batting average and driving in seven runs. The senior added two home runs and had a 1.167 on-base percentage. Additionally, Erin Pronobis had 11 RBIs, hitting three home runs, two of which were grand slams.

Scouting the Big Green
- Last time out, Dartmouth defeated George Washington 12-8 in Washington D.C.
- With the win, the Big Green move to 6-11 on the season and 0-0 in the Ivy League.
- Dartmouth is led by Maddie Damore, who is hitting .358 with two home runs. Katie McEachern leads the team with 12 RBIs in 17 games.
- Morgan McCalmon (2-1) leads the Big Green from the mound with a 2.44 ERA in 28.2 innings pitched. Kristen Rumley has a 3.04 ERA in 71.1 innings pitched.
- Wednesday's matchups marks the fifth and sixth meetings between the Terps and Big Green. Maryland currently holds a 3-1 advantage. The two last faced-off in 2013.
'KK' Moves Up All-Time Strikeout List
- In a 19-0 victory over Iowa, Kaitlyn Schmeiser (13-5) picked up the victory in the circle, tossing the complete-game two-hit shutout while striking out two.
- With the two strikeouts, K. Schmeiser now has 110 on the season and 383 for her career, moving the Dunkirk, Md. native into sixth on the all-time strikeout list.
- Jessica Aditayas currently sits tied for sixth with 383 strikeouts. Aditayas pitched for the Terps from 2002-2005.
Pronobis' Power
- In the series against Iowa, Pronobis hit .400, going 4-for 10 from the plate.
- She added three home runs, including two grand slams. The first grand slam came in a come from behind victory over the Hawkeyes.
- The senior drove in 11 of the team's 38 total runs this past weekend.
- Pronobis has registered a hit in 16 of the last 18 games and has eight multiple-hit games this season.
- Over the past week, Pronobis is 10-for-18 with five extra-base hits and 12 RBIs.
Bustillos Blasts
- In conference play, Bustillos has hit .667 batting average in 12 at-bats.
- This past weekend the senior hit two home runs, driving in seven RBIs as well.
- Bustillos has registered a hit in the past three games, all multiple-hit games.
Plate Patrol
- In addition to her stellar hitting, Bustillos patrols behind the plate, establishing herself as one of the best defensive catchers in the nation.
- This season Bustillos has caught 11 runners stealing, and leads the Big Ten.
Schmeiser Streaking
- Lindsey Schmeiser has racked a hit in eight straight games, four of them were multiple-hit games.
- The junior has picked up a hit in 23 of 28 games this season.
- In conference play L. Schmeiser is hitting .636, picking up four doubles and driving in four runs.
