
Terps Welcome Buckeyes For Inaugural B1G Home Series

COLLEGE PARK, Md.— The Maryland softball team looks to build off its early-season success as they welcome Ohio State to College Park for its inaugural Big Ten home series this weekend. The three game bout will span Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
This weekend's series marks the first-ever conference games at the Maryland Softball Stadium as members of the Big Ten Conference. The Terrapins (20-13, 2-1 Big Ten) opened conference play taking two out of three games at the Iowa Hawkeyes last weekend.
Last time out, Maryland split a midweek double header against Dartmouth on Wednesday. Maryland claimed the first game, 18-8 in six innings, while falling 8-5 in the nightcap. Kylie Datil blasted three home runs over the course of the double header and accounted for driving in six runs. Mandy Gardner drove in four runs, all in one inning, off a two-run home run and two-RBI double in the first game.

Scouting the Buckeyes
- Ohio State enters the contests at 15-12 overall and 0-3 in the Big Ten. The Buckeyes are 1-4 in away games.
- Last time out, OSU swept a midweek double header against Wright State. The team claimed the first game 7-2, and won the second game 10-2.
- The team opened Big Ten play with a three game series against Michigan. The Wolverines took all three games.
- In the most recently released RPI, Ohio State sits at 43.
- At the plate, redshirt junior Kirstie Fehrenbach is batting .414 with a triple and 10 runs scored. Against Wright State, she went four-for-six with three RBI and three runs scored.
Schmeiser Streaking
- After picking up a hit in each game verses Dartmouth, Lindsey Schmeiser extends her hit streak to ten games, dating back to a March 8 match up against Stony Brook.
- L. Schmeiser has picked up at least on hit in the last 17 of 18 games and 25 of 30 on the season.
- The junior has 28 RBIs, 10 doubles and six home runs.
- The Dunkirk, Md. native sits at .350 batting average on the season with a .621 slugging percentage.
KK Moves Up All time Strikeout list
- In an 18-8 victory over Dartmouth, Kaitlyn Schmeiser (14-5) picked up the victory, tossing four innings and striking out three.
- With the three strikeouts, K. Schmeiser moves to 113 on the season and 386 on her career. 386 whiffs moves the Dunkirk, Md. native into sole possession of sixth on the all-time program strikeout list.
Plate Patrol
- In addition to her stellar hitting, Bustillos patrols behind the plate, establishing herself as one of the best defensive catchers in the nation.
- This season Bustillos has caught 11 runners stealing, and sits at second in the Big Ten.
