Terrapins Travel To Rutgers For Midweek Meeting

COLLEGE PARK, Md.—After sweeping a three game set against Penn State this past weekend, the Maryland softball team looks to maintain momentum as they travel to Rutgers for a pivotal mid-week double-header on Tuesday.

The sweep of Penn State marked the first-ever conference sweep in the Big Ten. Lindsey Schmeiser led the Terps (26-19, 8-7 Big Ten) from the plate, hitting .500 with a 1.200 slugging percentage. In three games she added one double, two home runs and four RBIs. Erin Pronobis also hit .500 with three RBIs for the series. Shannon Bustillos added four RBIs, including a walk-off two-run home run to complete to comeback victory in the middle game of the series.

  • Maryland overcame a 12-2 deficit in the first game of the Iowa series to defeat the Hawkeye, 15-14. The victory marked the Terps first-ever Big Ten victory.
  • The Terps came back from a 10-2 deficit in the first game of the Ohio State series to win the game 11-10. Corey Schwartz blasted a walk-off two-run home run in the bottom of the seventh to win the game.
  • Maryland has comeback to win a game in the seventh inning eight times this season. Six have been walk-off wins, while two have been on the road.
