College Park, Md. -- Members of the men's and women's basketball teams spent Thursday evening contacting Terrapin Club Scholarship Fund donors to express their appreciation for their support and contributions this past year.
“Our supporters make it all possible for us,” said senior forward Jake Layman, who is majoring in American Studies. “It is important to express our appreciation for their commitment to our athletic programs.”
The teams are scheduled to make more than 200 calls during the spring “Thank-A-Thon.”
The initiative began several years ago in effort to let donors understand the importance of their contributions and what it means to each and every one of our student-athletes.
“It is really important for us to take the time to thank our donors,” said Malina Howard, a junior majoring in kinesiology and the recent recipient of the prestigious Elite 89 Award. “Because of their generosity, we are able to attend the University of Maryland, receive an outstanding education and play the sport we love.”
