INDIANAPOLIS – The Maryland women's lacrosse team captured the top overall seed in the 2015 NCAA Championship, as announced by the NCAA Sunday night.
The Terrapins (17-1) will host UMass (18-1) and Jacksonville (17-2) in the first round on Friday, May 8 at 4 p.m. at the Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex. Maryland will face the winner in the second round Sunday, May 10 at noon.
Tickets for the first and second rounds are $6 for adults at $4 for students, children and seniors. Tickets may be purchased in advance through the Terrapin Ticket Office located at the XFINITY Center, online at umterps.com or the day of the game at the Field Hockey & Lacrosse Complex. Following second-round action, four quarterfinal games will be played Saturday, May 16 or Sunday, May 17 on the campuses of competing institutions. The winners of the four quarterfinal games will advance to the semifinals and final hosted by St. Joseph's at PPL Park in Philadelphia. The semifinal games will be shown live on ESPN3 at 5 and 7:30 p.m. Eastern time, Friday, May 22. The championship game will air live on ESPNU at 8:30 p.m., Sunday, May 24.
The Terps lead the nation with 31 NCAA appearances and are also tops in wins (58), championship game appearances (18) and NCAA titles (11). Maryland is making its 26th consecutive appearance in the championship (1990-2015).
In the 2014 championship, Maryland captured its 11th national championship by scoring a 15-12 win against Syracuse in the championship played at Towson.
