
Terps Take Columbus For Big Ten Tournament

COLLEGE PARK, Md.—After a record setting performance by Shannon Bustillos against Michigan State last weekend closed out the regular season, the Maryland softball team heads to Columbus for the Big Ten Tournament. The eighth-seeded Terps are set to face ninth-seed Penn State in the first round on Thursday. First pitch is set for 2:30 p.m. ET.
THIS WEEKEND ON THE DIAMOND
The Terrapins will face Penn State in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament. The winner of the game will go on to face the top-overall seed Michigan on Friday. - In Big Ten play L. Schmeiser leads from the plate with a .425 batting average and a .822 slugging percentage. The junior has driven in 18 runs with five home runs. Bustillos is hitting .410 in Big Ten play with 30 RBI.
- Overall, the team is hitting .327 with a .577 slugging percentage in conference play. The Terps have driven in 147 runs while hitting 31 home runs.
- Nationally the Terps sit at 30th nationally in home runs per game (1.25) and 30th in scoring (6.28).
SCOUTING THE NITTANY LIONS
- Overall PSU sits at 28-27 on the season and 9-14 left in b1g play. The team is 11-7 at home and 8-15 on the road.
- PSU is coming off being swept by Michigan in Ann Arbor.
- The team is led offensively by Lexi Knief, who is hitting .408 on the seasons with 19 RBI and 14 doubles. Kristina Brackpool has 44 RBI and a team-leading .616 slugging percentage.
- In the circle Macy Jones leads Penn State with a 7-3 record and 3.66 ERA. The pitcher has appeared in 24 games and 57.1 innings.

SCHMEISER, BUSTILLOS, PRONOBIS NAMED ALL-BIG TEN
- Lindsey Schmeiser, Shannon Bustillos and Erin Pronobis were tabbed for All-Big Ten honors the conference office announced Wednesday.
- L. Schmeiser was named to the First Team All-Big Ten, while Bustillos and Pronobis were both named to the Second Team All-Big Ten. Additionally, Bustillos earned All-Defensive team honors and was bestowed the Sportsmanship Award for her positive sportsmanship and ethical behavior.
BUSTILLOS BREAKS all-time HR RECORD
- Bustillos, the Anaheim, Calif. native broke the all-time Maryland home run record with her 28th career home run in the first game against the Spartans. Bustillos is hitting .300 on the season with 42 RBI. In conference play the senior is batting .410 with a team-leading .897 slugging percentage, good for fifth-best in the conference.
BUSTILLOS BREAKS all-time RBI RECORD
- The most decorated batter in Maryland history, Bustillos has broken nearly every offensive record for the Terps this season. The senior shattered the all-time Maryland RBI record after a three-run home run in the regular season finale against Michigan State, putting her career total at 151.
