
Trimble, Stone Land on USBWA Midseason Watch Lists

ST. LOUIS - Sophomore Melo Trimble and freshman Diamond Stone were named to the U.S. Basketball Writers Association Midseason Watch Lists for the Oscar Robertson Trophy and the Wayman Tisdale Award, respectively, on Monday.
Trimble is one of 20 players tagged to the Oscar Robertson Trophy list, which honors the men's national player of the year while Stone is one of 10 candidates for the national freshman player of the year award.
Trimble leads the Terps in scoring (14.4 ppg), assists (5.6 apg), steals (25) and free throw percentage (.870). The Upper Marlboro, Md., native has recorded 20 or more points in six games this season, including a 24-point outing at Michigan State his last time out.
Stone is averaging a team-high 16.1 points per game in conference play for the Terps. The center from Milwaukee, Wisc., has three double-doubles in Big Ten play, including a record-breaking 39-point, 14-rebound performance against Penn State on Dec. 30. He has scored in double-figures in 14 of his last 16 contests.
Both awards will be presented at the College Basketball Awards gala in Oklahoma City on April 11, 2016, at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum. Access Sports, a non-profit organization committed to supporting various charitable causes, will serve as host for the gala. Funds from the gala are used to support youth basketball programs in Oklahoma that allow disadvantaged youth the opportunity to participate in leagues and training.
