
Terps Set for Fall World Series

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The University of Maryland baseball team will contest its Fall World Series this week at Bob “Turtle” Smith Stadium. Team Papio, coached by former Maryland outfielder and current Student Assistant Coach Anthony Papio, will take on Team Martir, led by former All-American catcher and current student assistant coach Kevin Martir.
Game one of the three-game series is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 21 with first pitch set for 3:05 p.m. The second matchup will take place Sunday evening at 5:05 p.m. The final contest is set for Tuesday afternoon at 4:35 p.m.
For the first time, the Fall World Series will be broadcast live on the Maryland Baseball Network. Recaps of each contest will be available on umterps.com.
Maryland is coming off a 30-27 season that finished with a semifinal appearance in the Big Ten Tournament. The Terps boast 2016 freshman All-Americans Nick Dunn and Marty Costes, along with 2015 freshman All-American Kevin Smith and 2016 All-Big Ten honorees Brian Shaffer and Taylor Bloom.
