
Terps, Towson Tangle Sunday at XFINITY

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The Maryland men's basketball team welcomes local foe Towson on Sunday at 2 p.m. for the 250th men's basketball game at XFINITY Center.
• Damonte Dodd had 13 points and 10 rebounds to help Maryland cruise to its first lopsided win of the year, 93-45 over St. Mary's on Thursday night. After starting the season with a tight victory over American and an emotional thriller at Georgetown, the Terrapins (3-0) enjoyed a rout against an in-state Division III opponent. Ten different players scored in the first half for the Terrapins, who led 13-2, 21-3 and 26-6 before an 18-4 run made it 44-10.
• Sunday's contest marks the 250th men's basketball game at XFINITY Center. Maryland is currently 207-42 in games within the friendly confines of XFINITY.
• Anthony Cowan and Kevin Huerter became the first freshman duo to start in a Maryland season-opener since Joe Smith and Keith Booth on Nov. 26, 1993 vs. Georgetown when the pair started in a win against American on Nov. 11 to kick off the 2016-17 campaign. Cowan, Huerter and Justin Jackson have combined for 80 of Maryland's 231 points and 58 of its 129 rebounds. Cowan leads all players with 12 assists, Jackson is tops in rebounds (26) and Huerter boasts a squad-best five treys. All three started against St. Mary's (MD) on Nov. 17.
• A total of seven different players have reached double-figure scoring this season, led by two each from Melo Trimble, Anthony Cowan and L.G. Gill. The Terps have seven players averaging five or more points per game, paced by Trimble's 17.0 points per contest.
• This is the 13th meeting between Maryland and Towson. Maryland has won all 12 previous meetings, including a 93-76 victory on Nov. 30, 1996 in the last meeting between the two programs.
