Terps in Second After Day One at B1G Championship

NEWBURGH, Ind. – After the first round of 18 holes, the Maryland men's golf team is second in the standings at the Big Ten Men's Golf Championship at the Victoria National Golf Club in Newburgh, Ind.

The Terrapins went six-under par as a team with a score of 282 in Friday's opening round. They are three strokes behind Illinois, who is ranked No. 3 nationally.

Sophomore Joe Brooks is tied for first with his first-round score of 68, which was -4 on the day. He is tied with Illinois' Charlie Danielson, who is ranked No. 6 in the country.

Senior Tom Harris is tied for sixth, as he shot a 70, which was -2. Sophomore David Kocher and freshman Timothy Colanta both went even on the day with scores of 72 and are tied for 15th.

Junior Victor Fox is in the top 30 and went two-over par with a 74.

The Terps and the other teams will play Saturday and Sunday. They will tee-off at 9 a.m. each day. Live scoring will be available here.

Kocher finished tied for third in last year's Big Ten Championship, which was also at Victoria National.

The Victoria National Golf Course is a par 72, 7,124-yard layout and will host all 14 conference schools in the four-round tournament. The course is consistently ranked among the top golf courses in America and is home to the PGA Tour Web.com United Leasing Championship.
