
Terps Set Personal Bests at Larry Ellis Invite

PRINCETON, N. J. – The University of Maryland Track and Field teams kicked off a busy weekend of action Friday evening on the first day of the Larry Ellis Princeton Invitational. The Terps have several runners in action split between Princeton and the Morgan State Legacy Meet Friday & Saturday.
Sophomore Alexandra Lucki led the way for the Terps in the 800, as she finished fifth in her heat and 24th overall with a mark of 2:09.88. Junior Rachelle Alexander (2:14.98), senior Charlotte Staver (2:15.63) and Emily VandeWater (2:17.67) rounded out the field for Maryland's runners in the event.
Senior Katie Nappi (10:48.58) and junior Charde' Barnes (11:12.52) both set new personal bests in the 3000 steeplechase, as the duo took 17th and 25th in the field (respectively).
Sophomore Claudia Ababio set a new personal best in the hammer throw, tossing 54.61 meters to finish sixth in the field.
Junior Alexa Squirini was the top Terrapin in the 1500 meter run, crossing the line in 4:43.80. Junior Sydney Almeida finishing in a personal best 4:45.18. Senior Catherine Sheffo took fifth in the 10,000 with a time of 37:57.67, while Karah O'Halloran was seventh in 38:44.92.
On the men's side, Senior Dan Trettel was 28th in the 800 finishing in 1:52.00. Sophomore Louis Corgliano represented Maryland in the 3000 steeple, going 9:20.61 to take 27th in the field.
Junior Tom Hogarty was 12th in his heat of the 1500, crossing the line in 3:55.74.
Both squads return to action Saturday at the Larry Ellis Invite (Live Results) and Morgan State Legacy Meet (Live Results).
