COLLEGE PARK, Md. - The No. 25 Maryland men's basketball team hits the road for a Big Ten test at Iowa on Thursday at 7 p.m. on ESPN.

• Anthony Cowan scored a career-high 19 points and led Maryland to a 62-56 win over Illinois on Saturday. Shooting wasn't the only offensive area where Maryland controlled the pace, as the Terrapin bigs held a 32-14 advantage in the paint. Melo Trimble and Jaylen Brantley each added 12 points.
• After a pair of wins against Indiana and Illinois last week, Maryland returned to the Associated Press and USA Today Coaches Top 25, landing at No. 25 in both polls Monday. The Terps currently sit atop the Big Ten standings at 4-1. Maryland, who reached the Sweet Sixteen for the first time since 2003 a year ago, was ranked No. 25 in the preseason Associated Press poll and No. 21 in the preseason USA Today/Coaches poll, released in October.
• Maryland has won eight games this season - including a 62-56 victory at Illinois the last time out - by six points or less.The Terps are 28-6 in contests decided by six points or less over the past three seasons.
• Maryland head coach Mark Turgeon has led the Terrapins to a 30-11 record through their first 41 Big Ten games, becoming the fastest Big Ten coach to reach 30 conference wins since former Illinois mentor Bruce Weber guided the Illini to 30 victories in his first 35 conference games at the helm during the 2003-04 and 2004-05 campaigns and the first three conference games of the 2005-06 season.
• Since joining the Big Ten Conference, Maryland is second in the league in conference wins, behind only Wisconsin. The Terps are 30-11 while Wisconsin boasts a 31-9 record in conference play.
• When Maryland's bench produces, it produces big time. The Terps have recorded a double-digit advantage in bench points in nine games this season and boast an 8-1 record in those matchups. Maryland outscored Illinois a commanding 21-7 the last time out, led by 12 points from junior guard Jaylen Brantley.
