
Maryland Announces 2017 Captains

COLLEGE PARK, Md. - With less than a month until the beginning of the 2017 slate, the Maryland women's lacrosse team has selected seniors Nadine Hadnagy and Zoe Stukenberg as team captains for the upcoming season.
The 2017 team voted on Hadnagy and Stukenberg to be captains for the second straight season. Both return as three-year starters and were named Inside Lacrosse Preseason First Team All-Americans.
Hadnagy returns as the defensive leader for the Terps. A 2016 IWLCA Third Team All-American, she ranked second on the team last year with 42 ground balls and third with 22 caused turnovers. A native of Farmingdale, N.Y., Hadnagy was an All-Big Ten selection and was named a Tewaaraton nominee last year.
A 2016 IWLCA Second Team All-American and All-Big Ten pick, Stukenberg is a leader in the midfielder for Maryland. The Ellicott City, Md., native ranked third on the team in goals (49), assists (16) and points (65) last year. Also a Tewaaraton nominee, Stukenberg was named a CoSIDA Third Team Academic All-American in 2016. She has received the last two Elite 90 Awards as the student-athlete with the highest GPA at the NCAA finals site.
The Terps open the season at William & Mary on Feb. 11 at noon.
