COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Maryland sophomore second baseman Nick Dunn (41) and right-handed pitcher Hunter Parsons (64) appeared on Perfect Game's Top-100 College Sophomore Prospects list, released Wednesday.
Dunn was named a freshman All-American after a breakout debut season that saw him leads Maryland with a .300 average and 16 doubles. He was named to the All-Big Ten Third Team and All-Big Ten Freshman Team.
The Sunbury, Pa., native took another step up this summer, earning Cape Cod All-League honors after batting .311 with 25 RBI and 11 extra-base hits.
Parsons was named the Cal Ripken League Pitcher of the Year after setting league bests in wins (6) and strikeouts (44) while also notching a 1.40 ERA in 38.1 IP. He was also named a third-team Perfect Game/Rawlings Summer Collegiate All-American.
The Fruitland, Md., native put together a solid freshman season, making five stars and recording a 3.50 ERA in 36.0 IP. He earned Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors on one occasion.
Maryland is ranked in three preseason polls entering the 2017 season; D1Baseball (22), Baseball America (24) and Perfect Game (23).
The Terps open their season at the Clearwater Tournament in Clearwater, Fla. The Terps will take on Ball State in its opener on Friday, February 17 at 7 p.m. at Spectrum Field.
