COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- The Maryland baseball team welcomes West Virginia for a midweek contest Tuesday night in College Park. Action from Bob "Turtle" Smith Stadium is set to begin at 4 p.m.

Fans can watch the action live on BTN Plus ($) via BTN2Go. The game will also be broadcast live on the Maryland Baseball Network

LEADING IT OFF

•  Maryland went 2-2 last week, with a midweek win over Richmond and a series loss at Nebraska. The Terps sit tied for third in the Big Ten standings with a 6-3 conference mark.

• Maryland is sixth in the country in stolen bases bases per game (2.00) and his eighth in total stolen bases (60). This is after the Terps stole just 28 bags in 57 games last season.

• Sophomore outfielder Marty Costes has emerged as one of the biggest offensive threats in the Big Ten this season. Costes is third in the Big Ten in average (.361), fourth in slugging (.598), sixth in OBP (.444), fifth in runs scored (26), second in hits (44) and fifth in home runs (7).

• Senior Brandon Gum out paces the rest of the Big Ten in on-base percentage with a .490 mark, propelled by a .364 batting average and a team-high 18 walks.

• The Terps have seven players with 14 or more walks this season—Gum, Will Watson (18), Zach Jancarski (18), Madison Nickens (17), Nick Cieri (17), Nick Dunn (16) and Marty Costes (14).

• Sophomore infielder AJ Lee had a solid weekend at the plate against Nebraska, notching five hits over the final two games. Lee slugged the second home run of his season, and career, in Maryland's 8-5 win on Saturday.

• Junior Zach Jancarski's ability to set the table at the top of the lineup has been invaluable for the Terps this season. Jancarski is currently on a nine-game reached base streak and sports a .281 average with a .400 OBP. He leads Maryland with nine doubles.

• Maryland's bullpen came up big in a 8-5 over Nebraska on Saturday. Junior Ryan Hill tossed four and two thirds inning of one run relief and struck out five. He is now 12th in the Big Ten with 34 strikeouts. Andrew Miller and Ryan Selmer finished out the game. They have combined to notch all seven of Maryland's saves this season.

• The 2017 season is head coach John Szefc's fifth season in College Park. Szefc has led the Terps to four straight 30-win seasons and two NCAA Super Regional appearances, both program firsts. He became the fastest coach in Maryland history to win 150 games when the Terps topped Bryant in game one of a doubleheader on 3/12.

• The Terps topped the Big Ten preseason coaches poll while D1Baseball, Perfect Game and Baseball America named Maryland the Big Ten favorites for the 2017 season. It is the third straight year D1Baseball has tabbed the Terps its Big Ten preseason frontrunner.
