COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Penn State used two big innings to outscore Maryland 7-5 in the rubber match between the two sides at Maryland Stadium. The Terps ran out to a 4-0 lead, but couldn't hold off the Nittany Lions as UMD now moves to 10-35 (3-15 B1G) on the season. 

Amanda Brashear turned in a solid day at the plate with two runs scored on three hits, while Anna Kufts notched two RBIs and a triple.

Maryland was manufacturing runs early, getting a RBI fielder's choice from Kufta in the first and a RBI single from Kassidy Cross in the second to go up 2-0.

The Terps padded the lead in the third, as Kufta knocked her fourth triple of the season for a RBI and Kristina Dillard converted on an infield hit to make it 4-0.

Senior pitcher Hannah Dewey performed admirably in the circle, coming off an 11-inning outing on Saturday, but the visitors finally got to the veteran lefty in the fourth. Penn State used two hits to score four in the inning to tie the game before Sami Main got the Terps out of the jam.

The Nittany Lions would take their first lead of the afternoon in the 6^th, using three hits and an error to score three more runs. Maryland made a game out of it in the bottom of the seventh, getting two runners on with no outs. Maryland managed to score one but could not prolong the rally as Jessica Cummings earned the save.

The Terps will return to action Wednesday for a doubleheader at Rutgers. First pitch is slated for 2:00 pm.
