COLLEGE PARK, Md. – After leading the Terps to two wins last week, three members of the Maryland women's lacrosse team earned Big Ten honors Tuesday.
Senior midfielder Zoe Stukenberg was named Co-Offensive Player of the Week, sophomore goalie Megan Taylor earned Defensive Player of the Week and freshman attacker Brindi Griffin was selected as Freshman of the Week.
Stukenberg scored five goals on five shots in an 18-8 win over No. 3 Florida last Wednesday. She went 3-for-3 on free position shots and also pulled in a career-high nine draw controls. Stukenberg dished out three assists in a 20-7 win over Michigan Saturday and caused two turnovers.
Taylor made a career-high 20 saves against the Gators while holding them to eight goals. Florida came into the game with the nation's top offense, averaging 16.67 goals per game. The 20 saves ties the most in a game this season by one goalie in Division I. Taylor leads the nation with a .603 save percentage. This is her fifth Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week honor.
Griffin scored her first career hat trick vs. Florida, scoring on all three of her shots. She tallied another hat trick vs. Michigan on Saturday. This is Griffin's second Freshman of the Week honor.
The Terps (11-0) travel to No. 18 Virginia (7-5) Wednesday for a 7 p.m. game.
